02 GSXR 1000 set up info

New here but not to bikes. I’m spearheading a small group of guys to go drag racing. We all have similar era 1000cc bikes that frankly have no real use or value so we’ve decided to make use of them. We come from the Pro Road Racing world and are looking to have a go at organized drag racing.

Gonna keep it cheap and go with FTD swing arm extensions and lowering links with a strap up front.

Bikes are pretty much stock with a tune to remove power restrictions and exhaust. 160ish HP (Dyno Tuned) at the rear wheel.

Question #1: Gearing?
What’s a good starting point. The bike has a 520 conversion kit with 16/42 gearing on it now. I gotta buy a new chain when I do the swing arm extensions so I’d like to get close with gearing.

Question # 2: Wheel base? What’s a good wheel base to start with. The extensions give you a 4-1/2” - 9” option. I come from the road racing world where 5mm - 8mm wheelbase changes were a big difference so I’m not sure here.

Question #3: Where? What is the racing organization and how do the class structures work. We’re based in South Jersey with Atco Dragway being our local track. We’re willing to travel to an extent but no more cross country.
